IT Analyst Job at Dorchester County, SC

The purpose of the class is to manage and perform all support associated with computer applications supporting the County and to perform related professional and technical work as required. The class works within a general outline of work to be performed and develops work methods and sequences under general supervision.
Duties
- Monitors the operation of assigned software applications.
- Assesses the data processing needs of assigned departments; recommends new systems or system modifications to enhance effectiveness and efficiency of operations.
- Configure, install, and update software applications and databases to provide the means for departments to satisfy their data and information needs.
- Facilitate system conversions including data mapping, conversion, and review.
- Maintain existing programs and implement new programs.
- Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and corrects application system problems.
- Creates ad hoc reports for various departments.
- Researches and obtains quotes from vendors for application software; serves as liaison between system users and vendors regarding existing or newly acquired applications.
- Reports status of assigned projects to the Information Technology Director through written reports and meetings.
- Assists in coordinating department activities and functions with those of other County divisions, departments and outside agencies as appropriate.
- Provides professional and effective customer service and user support, both during and after regular working hours.
- Receives and responds to employee inquiries, concerns and complaints regarding areas of responsibility.
- Performs general administrative/clerical work as required including, but not limited to, preparing reports and correspondence, entering and retrieving computer data, copying and filing documents, answering the telephone, etc.
- Attends department, committee and other meetings as necessary.
- Attends training, meetings, workshops, conferences, etc., to enhance job knowledge and skills.
- Performs other related job duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems management or closely related field; or equivalent combination of education and training; or at least five years of related work experience.
Special Qualifications:
May require system-specific certifications as deemed appropriate by Department Head.
