Job Summary:
The Janitor is responsible for the overall cleanliness and tidiness of the lobby, hallways, office areas, break rooms, restrooms, and other areas. Must remain focused; with high attention to detail.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Sweeps, mops, and vacuums floors, hallways, stairs, restrooms, break rooms and office areas.
- Thoroughly cleans and sanitizes restrooms using established practices and procedures.
- Empties all trash cans and replaces liners daily, cleans receptacles as necessary.
- Cleans sinks, countertops, microwaves, and refrigerators in break rooms and common areas.
- Completes non-routine tasks and cleaning as needed.
- Restocks supplies in bathrooms, break rooms and common areas as necessary.
- Maintains janitor closets in a clean, organized and safe manner.
- Maintains janitorial equipment in a clean, safe and operable condition.
- Responsible for maintaining current Safety Data Sheets (SDS) related to cleaning supplies in janitorial closet.
- Completes tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision.
- Assists in examining the building for safety hazards; reports deficiencies to immediate supervisor.
- Knowledgeable and compliant with current federal, state, and local regulations that affect service operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.
- Safely follows instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies. Only uses as directed.
- Follows all safety practices and procedures.
- Uses required safety equipment; ensures that all equipment is in proper working condition.
- Properly disposes of all waste; minimizes all landfill costs by optimizing recycling.
- Performs special projects as requested by management.
- Responsible for a neat, clean and organized facility.
- Conducts self in professional manner when interacting with clients, coworkers and management.
- Performs other related duties as assigned that would lead to successful operation of department, team, and/or mission.
