Position Summary
- Incumbents of positions in this series keep buildings in clean and orderly condition; maintain the appearance and cleanliness of floors; wash interior surfaces of buildings such as walls, ceilings, windows, etc.; maintain grounds around buildings; empty waste receptacles; move furniture; and perform related work as required.
- The basic purpose of this work is to provide cleaning/maintenance services to ensure that assigned premises are properly cleaned and maintained.
Duties and Responsibilities
- General cleaning of the interior of the Central Mass Transportation Center (CMTC) including floors, carpet, rugs, windows and walls; vacuum, sweep and mop floors
- Disinfect and clean commonly used items like desks, door handles, office tools and phones
- Clean and stock all restrooms within the building; toilets, sinks, floors, etc.
- Empty all trash and recycling bins throughout the building
- Clean spills, leaks, and other sanitary issues
- Stock and maintain supply rooms
- Notify supervisors of unsafe conditions while performing duties or inspecting the premises
- Operate cleaning equipment such as vacuums, polishers, scrubbers, and other equipment
- Dust furniture and fixtures
- Move furniture (tables, chairs, desks, etc.) when needed for CMTC events, trainings, and meetings
- Maintain outdoor grounds by picking up trash, emptying outdoor garbage cans, etc.
- Support in the cleaning of other D3 facilities when needed
- Ensure facility is secure when warranted; may have to open and/or close the building before and/or after hours
- Complete tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision
- Be available for certain overtime situations, such as after hour events at the premises
- Maintain schedules for cleaning areas of the building
- Maintain records/logs on assigned unit activities
- Confer with agency staff concerning work activities to resolve problems and exchange information
Minimum Entrance Requirements

Applicants must have at least two years of full-time or equivalent part-time, experience in building custodial or institution housekeeping work.
