Who are we hiring?

As a Junior Designer at MSG Entertainment Interactive you develop entertainment that’s equal parts video game, amusement park ride, and spectacle. Your target platform is The Sphere – a massive 16K 4D theater with beam-formed audio – and the mobile phones of our guests. You build from specifications and team objectives and iterate to eventual production-quality deliverables. You’re part of a veteran cross-functional team and learning from each other every day. As an ideal candidate you bring a solid design foundation and a broad range of skills including gameplay, and real-time iterative game pipelines. You have a passion for gaming, and can create immersive, exciting work.

What will you do?

• Work directly with the Interactive team to develop and adhere to CG methods and techniques that will assure the highest quality end results
• Have an appetite for creative execution and are forward thinking and technologically inclined and have interest in being a part of an ambitious, innovative project requiring collaboration and teamwork
• Be part of a production group exploring and developing a unique language for Sphere, in collaboration with a creative development team
• Find opportunities for and ideate on new game systems, content, and features
• Communicate game system concepts, implementation processes, risks, and interactions
• Create and revise game design documents
• Collaborate with our creative team to implement game features and content for iterative improvement of the product design based on metrics & data evaluation
• Prototype, test and tune gameplay throughout the product life cycle
• Translate high-level ideas into functional game designs
• Enhance existing concepts
• Provide in-depth research, reference material, and develop conceptual ideas

What do you need to succeed?

• Proficient with the Unreal Engine, visual scripting, and Blueprints
• Create design concepts and studies from scratch
• Passion for design
• Experience in level design using Unreal
• Deep understanding of fundamentals of core, casual, and free-to-play game design; ability to contextualize and articulate use of those aspects in a new venue
• Analytical understanding and appreciation of a wide variety of game genres and player types
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to socialize and evangelize design requirements for projects
• Proficiency with common industry production and design software, including MS Office, Confluence, JIRA, Adobe CS, Figma
• Must be passionate for games

• Strong collaborative skills with the ability to communicate with a broad range of people
• Capable of working on own initiative, identify problems and offer practical solutions
• Ability to reinterpret common game mechanics and themes for new player segments & new hardware / environments
• Ability to find creative solutions for technically challenging tasks
• C++/Python
• Traditional art skills including sketching and Adobe Suite
• Experience with AR and Geo-location games or features
• Proficiency with version control software such as GitLab, Perforce, SourceTree or Fork
• Experience with rapid iteration and deployment of game data updates
