The University of Pittsburgh, Division of Cardiology and Vascular Medicine Institute is interested in hiring a Laboratory Technician. The lab studies molecular mechanisms regulating cardiomyopathy, heart failure, and sudden death. The candidate will assist with research work in a highly collaborative environment with other lab members to refine and develop new experimental methods and prepare manuscripts for submission. The candidate will assist with the coordination of mouse colonies and assist with relevant lab procedures and experiments. Experience with murine models, genotyping, tissue sectioning (frozen), immunohistochemistry, DNA and RNA extraction, molecular cloning, tissue cell culture, immunoblotting, and fluorescence microscopy preferred. There are opportunities for independent research projects for interested candidates.
Undergrad in Life Sciences, Biology or related field. Associate degree required. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted. Previous experience in laboratory techniques helpful. Willingness to work with experimental animal preparations, chemicals and biological materials.
