R.P. Marzilli & Company builds and maintains complex residential high-end landscapes throughout New England. We have a career opportunity for a Landscape Construction Estimator to join our team. The Landscape Construction Estimator is responsible for producing timely and accurate estimates from architect-produced drawings. Our projects are complex and our estimators understand how to build projects and price multi-scope work that includes site work, hardscape, architectural masonry, softscape, irrigation, lighting, specialty construction items, and general conditions.

JOB / DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties and responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to:

• Coordinate estimating effort relevant to bids/projects assigned
• Thoroughly review proposal specifications, drawings, and attend pre-bid meeting to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate
• Review schedule of projects being estimated
• Identify risk issues and their order of magnitude
• Prepares conceptual budgets based on minimal information
• Obtain knowledge of project and appropriate regulations required to construct the project
• Reviews general conditions, schedule, scope of work, site logistics and other exhibits as prepared by operations
• Review constructability issues with operational staff
• Monitor actual cost to estimated cost
• Maintain and communicate data on construction and material cost trends affecting project costs
• Analyze alternative means and methods to determine the most economical alternative
• Build effective relationships with customers, design team, specialty contractors, suppliers, and user groups that reflect and support company core values
• Participate in periodic reviews and visits to projects as appropriate
• Participate in business development activities and build networking relationships to further understand client needs and expectations

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge / Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Construction, Landscape Architecture, Construction Management, or equivalent related work experience

Job Experience

• A minimum of 5 years of successful conceptual and negotiated estimating experience

Skills / Competencies

• Must be proficient in all computer software programs used in estimating. Experience with Asset Landscape Management software and OST highly preferred
• Must have strong mathematical and computer skills. Proficiency with all MS Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook and Project)
• Expertise with Conceptual Estimating required
• Ability to break down landscape construction operations into a logical sequence of activities
• Ability to work as part of a collaborative team
• Ability to professionally communicate the basis for individual work product within a highly stressed environment
• Ability and willingness to abide by policies
• Must be able to meet deadlines and put in the time needed to get the job done
• Must possess a strong work ethic
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills mandatory
• High attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies
