We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced, and detail-oriented individual to join our fast-paced team as a Lead, Inventory and Cost Accounting. The ideal candidate must have demonstrated success in building, improving, optimizing, and scaling inventory and standard cost accounting business processes. As a key member of a growing Finance organization, the Lead, Inventory and Cost Accounting will be the subject matter expert in the organization for global cost of sales and inventory accounting including related processes, policies, controls, and documentation. Major responsibilities include developing and managing complete and accurate standard costs and related budgets and forecasts, management of variances, monthly inventory accounting in coordination with Supply Chain team, performance of operational analyses and ensuring inventory and cost of sales are appropriately valued in accordance with U.S. GAAP.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Function as the standard cost and inventory subject matter expert for the company.
  • Manage and oversee all aspects of inventory and cost accounting and related systems for all locations globally.
  • Lead and manage the development and maintenance of standard costs as well as overhead pools for all raw materials, WIP and finished goods.
  • Manage and oversee month end inventory and cost of sales closing activities, including the preparation and review of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, inventory valuation, adjustments and reserves.
  • Research purchase price and production variances, investigate and record correcting entries, as necessary.
  • Partner with FP&A and Supply Chain teams on the annual budgeting and quarterly reforecast process playing the lead role in determining cost of goods sold budgets and forecasts.
  • Develop policies, processes, templates, and best practices to standardize and streamline related business processes.
  • Develop and prepare effective analyses of inventory and cost of goods sold actual results and related variances.
  • Collaborate with other finance team members and Supply Chain team to ensure timely and accurate reporting of inventory data and continuous improvement and automation of transactions.
  • Manages quarterly external audit deliverables and provides support, as needed, related to inventory, and cost of sales.
  • Partner with Supply Chain on the planning and execution of annual physical inventory counts for each location globally.
  • Create and maintain strong internal controls and process documentation; participate in the review and testing of Sarbanes Oxley controls to ensure compliance.
  • Maintain documentation required to support 10-Q/10-K financial statement presentation of inventory and cost of goods sold.
  • Collaborate with IT team on system improvements and enhancements.
  • Other duties and special projects as required.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business. (CPA/MBA Preferred)
  • 7+ years of cost accounting experience and a strong understanding of US GAAP
  • Previous oversight of inventory month-end closing procedures in a publicly traded company including financial statement flux analysis and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts. (FloQast/Blackline experience preferred)
  • Experience working in a multi-currency, multi-country environment.
  • 2 years supervisory experience
  • Demonstrated understanding of inventory ERP systems (NetSuite preferred).
  • Intermediate level with Microsoft Office Products (advanced Excel preferred).
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently to manage multiple priorities and creatively determine solutions.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills, ability to present financial information in a meaningful and understandable way.
  • Detail oriented, ability to accomplish multiple tasks within the agreed upon timeframes through effective prioritization of duties and functions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good team building skills including trust, professionalism, positive attitude and ability to garner consensus across diverse groups.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced pharmaceutical company strongly preferred.
  • Willing and able to conduct business during non-standard hours to meet the needs of a global business.
  • Willing and able to occasional travel on behalf of the company (less than 10%).
