ANAEROBIC DIGESTER LEAD MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN (LEAD OPTECH)

The LEAD MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN (LEAD OPTECH) is responsible for managing the assigned shift Technicians to ensure the proper daily operation and oversight of the anaerobic digestion facility. As an on-site day worker operates, maintains, and repairs plant equipment to generate biogas, electricity, and hot water. This position encompasses daily plant operations including inspecting, testing, and documenting plant performance, material status, and related activities. Strictly adheres to all safety and environmental rules and regulations to protect employees and public safety. Works under the direction of the Facility Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

· Operates and maintains the facility in a safe manner and ensures that a safework environment is provided to minimize the risk of accidents and injuries.

· Compliance with all permits, company policies, procedures, and commercial commitments.

· Implement programs and activities that provide a work environment that promotes effective goal accomplishment, productivity, and morale.

· Optimize facility performance through appropriate workforce utilization, equipment availability, supplies management and external support.

· Provide coaching, training, and development opportunities for the site Operations Team to ensure appropriate skill sets are maintained.

· Implement company policies and controls to manage all expense activities to conform to established budgets. Provide interface and direction for contractor personnel.

· Communicate effectively with the site staff, client management, vendors, and outside agencies.

· Demonstrate effective management skills in meeting or exceeding facility goals and objectives.

· Assists in the maintenance of equipment by cleaning, adjusting, tightening, performing preventative or corrective maintenance, and identifying equipment in need of corrective maintenance.

· Writes, submits, and implements preventative/corrective work orders within client provided CMMS (eMaint) system.

· Directs production sampling to verify qualities such as clarity, cleanliness, consistency, dryness, and texture.

· Prepare daily data sheets; compile reports; input data into computer system.

· Maintains facility buildings and grounds, keeping the site clean and organized.

· Monitor alarms and assist in corrective action.

· Reads, understands, and complies with all facility health, safety, security and environmental (HSSE) and regulatory procedures.

· Cooperate with and participate as a Team Member.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

The LEAD MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN (LEAD OPTECH) must possess demonstrated knowledge of all facets of anaerobic digester, support equipment and plant operations while possessing the ability to make competent decisions in emergency situations while capable of implementing operating procedures. Individuals for this position must demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Proven experience as supervisor or relevant role
  • High school diploma or GED is required. Higher education is preferred.
  • Must be able to learn standard principles of biology, chemistry, and mathematics.
  • Must have high mechanical aptitude and experience working with machines and reading gauges, dials, and indicators.
  • Familiarity with lab equipment and procedures is a plus.
  • Approve timesheets and reconciliation of expenses
  • Must be physically able to repeatedly lift, climb ladders, and endure strenuous physical activity.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be meticulous and able to manage stressful situations.
  • Must be an initiative-taker, able to recognize and reconcile issues as they arise at the plant.

WORK CONDITIONS:

  • This is a physical job, requiring significant stamina and mobility to work with and around motorized equipment. Must be able to lift, stand, sit, walk, bend, reach, grasp, climb, push/pull, and work at heights up to 40 feet and in confined spaces. May be required to move up to 80 pounds on occasion.
  • Must have visual acuity, good hearing activity, and ability to communicate clearly and quickly in person and via telephone.
  • Subject to pre-employment, periodic and random drug testing
  • Must be able to respond quickly to signals to avoid injury or equipment issues.
  • Must have basic knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
  • Must be aware of and follow all safety procedures and OSHA requirements.
  • May be exposed to animal manure and associated odors.
  • Will be exposed to outdoor weather conditions during course of work activities, including heat, snow, and inclement weather.
  • Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, flexible hours, and holidays as required.
  • Must be available for scheduled 24/7 on call.
  • Must be willing to travel to other sites as needed.
  • Will need to communicate with dairy personnel and keep them updated on repairs or issues that affect their scope of work.

Pay determined by experience and level of experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $32.00 per hour
