The Full-Time Learning Specialist/ IDD Program Manager reports directly to the Director, Center for Accessibility and Inclusive Education. The Learning Specialist/ IDD Program Manager performs administrative level functions to support the daily activities of the of the Adult Transition Program and in doing so, contribute to the success of grant implementation. The successful incumbent will demonstrate professionalism and is displays strong attention to detail in their work ethic.

The Program Manager reports to the Director of the Center for Accessibility and Inclusive Education and will be responsible for mentoring Raritan Valley Community College students with disabilities in the IDD program. Students served by this position have complex and unique needs that may include intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities, learning disabilities, Attention Deficit Disorder, cognitive impairments, physical disabilities, psychological disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Traumatic Brain Disorder, and hearing or visual disorders. Background and experience in supporting the disability-related functional limitations of the students is required, as is experience in helping students develop college-level learning strategies. The person in this position will work individually with students but in consultation with staff from the Center for Accessibility and Inclusive Education.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Ensure quality services are provided to the individuals served.

Ensure daily living and job skills training, community activities and recreation.

Academic planning and coaching.

Maintain daily, monthly, and annual required documentation (must be comfortable with electronic documentation systems)

Empower individuals to reach academic goals and cultivate purpose.

Coordinate and consult with your team to ensure goals are being met.

Implement methods and techniques to reach education and employment objective.

Contribute ideas for the ongoing development of the program and to better serve individuals.

Perform other duties as required by nature of the position, as requested by the Director.


Job Requirements:


Master's degree in Education, Special Education, Educational Psychology, Rehabilitation Counseling, Social Work or related field.

Must have familiarity with DDD regulations and experience working directly with people with disabilities to be considered.

Awareness of current best practices that support college students with disabilities.

Preferred:

Experience mentoring college-level academic skills for individuals with disabilities.

2 years' experience working with college students.

Demonstrated ability to understand the complexity of disabilities as they impact learning and of evidence-based approaches concerning adults with disabilities.
