Under the supervision of the Registered Nursing staff, assists in providing total patient care, performing focus assessments, following the plan of care for each assigned patient. Under supervision gives direct and indirect patient care as assigned. Primary responsibility is to the med-surg and swing bed unit but assists the Emergency Room on an as needed basis.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Utilizing the nursing process completes focused physical and psycho-social assessment of patients and takes nursing histories to provide a basis for the development of patient care plans under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse.
• Using nursing process plans and provides patient and family care and evaluates patients’ response to care provided and redirects care as necessary under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Implements and monitors appropriate nursing care to meet patient’s needs and identify expected outcome for planned nursing interventions and insure vital information is passed between shifts.
• Participates in the health care educational needs of the client family and others with regard to patient care needs, disease prevention, and health maintenance measures.
• Maintains accurate and timely records according to hospital policy and procedures.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

• Work performed in an office and hospital settings.
• Subject to long, irregular hours.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach and move about facilities
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
• May be exposed to virus, disease, and infection from patients and specimens in working environment.

• Strong interpersonal skills with effective oral and written communication skills
• Knows and practices the requirements of the Board of Nursing Examiners Act

Education and Experience:

• Graduate from an accredited school of practical nursing.
• Currently licensed in the State of Oklahoma.
• One to Two years of experience in clinical nursing.
• Current BCLS
