Licensed Practical Nurse (Per Diem) Job at Progressive Surgical Institute Inc.
SUMMARY: As the Licensed Practical Nurse LPN, you are responsible for rendering nursing care in assigned areas in terms of individualized patient needs, according to the dependent and independent nursing functions and conformance with the recognized nursing techniques, procedures, and established standards based on the scope of practical nursing, under the direction/delegation of the registered nurse. Prior medical experience in an ambulatory surgical center is preferred. You should be able to communicate professionally, be highly organized, have a strong customer service background, possess excellent computer and organizational skills, and embody a welcoming/friendly demeanor. Your schedule will vary, dependent on the operational hours of the surgical center. You must have the flexibility to work within these hours of operation,
Job Duties & Essential Functions:
- Utilize nursing knowledge and skills in the safe implementation of basic preventive therapeutic and rehabilitative nursing care of assigned patient/family as evidenced by documentation and observation of positive patient care outcomes
- Perform delegated independent nursing functions using established procedures, policies, guidelines, and standards as observed by the registered nurse
- Insertion of IV’s, observing patient response, as evidenced by documentation in the medical record and lack of negative outcomes
- Maintain and coordinate communication among patient/significant other, staff and physician as evidenced within medical record, client, and health care team feedback
- Assist in assuring that effective communication exists with patients/significant other as reflected in the plan of care. Give punctual change of shift report consisting of pertinent and relevant information for assigned patients
- Work collaboratively with other members of the health care team in coordination of the patient's care as evidenced by another department feedback
- Use available written and AV materials specific to patient condition or disease. Utilize appropriate teaching methods such as one-on-one and group instruction, demonstration, or discussion
- Assist patients, family members or other clients with concern and empathy; respect their confidentiality and privacy and communicate with them in a courteous and respectful manner
- Answer and refer telephone calls or other inquiries to ensure accurate and timely communications are facilitated
- Cross train to scrub and assist in Femto
- Special projects and other duties may be assigned as needed.
- Potential travel to other locations as needed and directed by your supervisor
Qualifications :
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing
- Valid registration as an LPN in the state of Pennsylvania
- Completion of relevant state Board of Nursing approved
- Current AHA Healthcare Provider training (BCLS)
- Current BLS certification or obtain within 6 months of employment
- Excellent written, verbal, and listening skills
- Above average customer service skills and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations
Preferred Qualifications :
- Bilingual Spanish a plus
Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with patients, staff and medical providers. The employee must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
This position is active and requires the employee to constantly move about in the office to assist patients, staff and medical providers.

Experience
Required- Valid registration as an LPN in the state of Pennsylvania
