What is Job Corps? It is the country's most extensive nationwide residential career training program and has been operating for over 50 years. The program helps eligible young people ages 16 through 24 complete their high school education, trains them for meaningful careers, and assists them with obtaining employment. Job Corps has trained and educated over two million individuals since 1964.

Oneonta Job Corps offers training in the medical trades (Certified Nursing Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant, and Medical Administrative Assistant), Automobile trades (Auto Body and Auto Technician), Construction Trades (Tile Setting, Cement Mason, and Electrical), and our advanced trades (Overhead Line, Rural Underground Distribution, SMART Meter, and our Drone Program).

Position Available: Licensed Practical Nurse

We are seeking a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse who can perform a variety of nursing functions in our Wellness Suite. The shift includes daytime hours (7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday) – no evenings or overnights. Our Wellness Suite consists of a Receptionist area, Dental Office, Medical Doctor Office, Registered Nurses’ office, Mental Health Consultant office, and Drug and Alcohol Specialists in addition to the LPN offices.

Duties include assisting the physician with patient examinations, preparing patients for tests, administering medications, and first aid, maintaining medical equipment, supply inventory, maintaining medical records/documentation, and providing guidance to students in matters of personal health and hygiene. Participate in projects that promote the health and well-being of students.

Current New York State certification as an LPN and one-year health care experience. Skills required in this position include knowledge of current state and federal laws regulating health care and patient privacy, the ability to interact with students and staff, the capacity to handle multiple priorities, and strong decision-making skills. Computer literacy with software such as Microsoft Office. The candidate must possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
