Brooklyn Center Elementary is seeking applicants to join our team as a Lunch Aide.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Establishes positive relationships with scholars and acts as a role model for appropriate social skills and behaviors in all situations.
• Actively supervises scholars in the cafeteria during meals to ensure a safe, supportive, culturally responsive, equitable, and welcoming learning environment.
• Supports the efficient and orderly means of purchasing lunches/food items from the cafeteria.
• Circulates among scholars to be available to children who need help or resolve problems that arise.
• Helps scholars develop proper eating habits in the areas of manners and nutrition.
• Observes scholars not eating lunch and call to the attention of school nurse.
• Ensures the cleanliness of tables and surrounding areas by washing tables when scholars leave the cafeteria.
• Assists in establishing, implementing and supervising orderly disposal of food waste, return of trays and dismissal from the cafeteria.
• Responds to emergency situation (injured scholars, fights, etc) for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
• Keeps building administration informed of any safety concerns.
• Establishes and maintain a safe environment during lunch.
• Questions any non-school visitors and refer them to main office to sign in.
• May provide interpreting services for scholars, families, and staff.
• Attends staff meetings and parent/teacher conferences and serves on committees as required.
• Other duties as assigned.

Please note there is space for this to become a full time position if merged with Centaur+, which is our after school child care program. The staff member would transition to this programming / role around 1pm and could stay until 6pm. If you are not interested in this position, that is okay - It is not required to apply for the lunch aide position!

Hours: 2.75 hours per day
Hourly Wage Range: $15.42-$18.87 per hour depending on qualifications
Duty Days: Student Contact Days
Requirements: High School Diploma or GED.
