Weyerhaeuser is currently seeking a talented leader to fill our Maintenance Supervisor role at our lumber mill in Millport, AL. The Millport area is perfect for anyone who enjoys living in a personal, tight-knit community with the advantages of close proximity to outdoor recreational activities, shopping, dining and collegiate activities.

As a Maintenance Supervisor, you will role model Weyerhaeuser’s core values of safety, integrity, citizenship, sustainability, and inclusion by working with other leaders and your team to create a positive environment with open, honest communication among associates. A large part of success in this role involves tactical planning, direction-setting, and leadership to meet and exceed Millport’s goals through quality work execution, teamwork, reliability and continuous improvement. Maintenance Supervisors are committed to, and accountable for, the team’s success through active participation in a collaborative team environment. They will also provide the day-to-day leadership and direction to support the achievement of department, team, and individual job goals.

The Maintenance Supervisor position reports to the Maintenance Superintendent.

Key Functions

• Plan, develop, manage, and provide effective leadership for the maintenance team
• Ensure the safety of all associates by identifying safety issues and taking measures to proactively address concerns
• Actively supervise and develop the maintenance team to ensure effective communication across and between shifts, and with the production teams
• Utilize preventive maintenance systems to reduce unscheduled downtime
• Efficiently use reliable troubleshooting methods to ensure uptime, production volume, and quality goals are met
• Effectively utilize training resources to maximize team technical skills
• Use computerized maintenance management systems to support effective prioritization of maintenance requests, manage maintenance inventory, and delegate maintenance resources
• Lead team meetings and training
• Identify safety, reliability, environmental, quality and production issues
• Coordinate activities with the production team to maximize productivity and minimize cost
• Reduce waste and take measures to proactively address all concerns
• Proactively resolve employee issues, build team work, and ensure adherence to all applicable site policies and procedures in a fair and consistent manner
• Other duties as assigned

• At least 1 year of supervisory experience in an industrial environment
• Demonstrated commitment to safe work behaviors and experience leading and ensuring compliance with safety initiatives
• Experienced and knowledgeable in the areas of mechanical, electrical and precision maintenance
• Proven expertise in preventive and predictive maintenance methods
• Ability to identify the root cause of problems and effectively initiate immediate corrective action to prevent reoccurrence
• Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal and electronic communication
• Demonstrated ability to raise performance by building and maintaining positive relationships with all associates through coaching, development and instilling a continuous improvement mindset
• Strong planning and organizational skills
• Strong work ethic, good judgment and decision-making skills
• Proven track record of consistently demonstrating leadership skills and a positive influence, as well as accomplishments in proactively influencing safety, reliability, environmental, quality, productivity and people development
• Demonstrated basic computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office, other Windows based programs, and internet skills
• Able to perform all essentials functions of an industrial environment, including lifting 2-20 pounds regularly, lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally, climbing steps/ladders, working from heights, standing or walking for 2-3 hours at a time for 10 hours or more, working in extreme temperatures, dust, and noise while wearing all safety equipment
• Flexible with schedule and able to work any shift, weekends, overtime, and holidays as needed
• Successful completion of background check and post-offer pre-employment drug screen

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in a related field
• Working knowledge of business and financial concepts
• Demonstrated results in achieving and sustaining business goals
