Under the direction of the Executive Director or designee, this teacher will design, plan, organize, present, and evaluate a program of meaningful instruction to students in areas assigned and carry out other assigned related duties necessary to ensure the academic achievement of students, and the successful, safe operation of the school. As an employee of Redding School of the Arts (RSA), this employee will follow the responsibilities and procedures as delineated in the RSA Personnel Handbook.

  • Design, plan, and organize daily instruction for Mandarin reading, writing, listening and speaking;
  • Design, plan, and organize daily instruction for Mandarin Mathematics and Science where appropriate. This planning for instruction may require translating English curriculum into beginning level Mandarin as well as meeting with colleges;
  • Instruct pupils in citizenship and other general elements of the course of study. • Motivate students toward academic success in the Mandarin
  • Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom and in all school functions.
  • Create an effective environment for learning.
  • Evaluate pupils’ academic and social growth.
  • Communicate with parents through a variety of means.
  • Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude and learning problems.
  • Select and requisition Mandarin books, instructional materials and instructional supplies; maintains required inventory records.
  • Help coordinate school use of materials as needed.
  • Participate in curriculum development programs.
  • Promote staff and community support for the total Mandarin program.
  • Maintain regular communication with parents through use of the internet, parent letters or other means.
  • Maintain regular communication with directors.
  • Provide a kind and compassionate atmosphere to all students.
  • Attend parent conferences, IEP, Student Study Team Meetings, etc.;
  • Attend Back to School, Open House and evening school functions;
  • Participate in faculty meetings;
  • Provide student supervision while on duty before or after school, recess or at other times as designated;
  • Appear and conduct themselves as a positive role model;
  • Maintain a safe environment for students;
  • Respond appropriately to feedback given by parents and students;
  • Exercise discretion in discussing students with non-parental adults, including staff members

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $11.00 - $12.00 per hour
