POSITION SUMMARY

The Manufacturing Engineer II is responsible for continuously improving the cost, productivity, safety, and quality aspects of the business with principal focus in manufacturing operations. This is accomplished through Lean and operational excellence initiatives including developing improved processes, procedures, and methods with consideration of manufacturability and overall impacts to the value stream.

POSITION DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Responsible for the development, implementation, and improvement of manufacturing processes for the WWS Monett locationProvide floor support to manufacturing on a day-to-day basis.

Manage projects with varying degree of scope, including specifying, selecting, justifying, and implementing capital equipment or enhancement of existing equipment.
Develop project documentation including specifications, 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, schedules, and presentations to capture and communicate plans that achieve defined project goals.
Collaborate with outside sources for development of production tooling and equipment.
Perform time studies and conduct process observations to develop/improve labor standards; develop associated work instructions and standard work for new/modified processes.
Analyze data and trends to identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Work as a liaison between estimating, product design and manufacturing regarding design for manufacturability.
  • Support business safety objectives by participating in safety programs, assessing ergonomic conditions, and implementing improvement projects.
  • Assist in implementation of the strategic manufacturing plan for the facility to meet the company's business plan.
  • Support, lead and participate in cross-functional teams to problem-solve and implement solutions; facilitate team building.
  • Provide information to aid in manufacturing decision making including production labor and material costs.
  • Create project timelines with safety, quality, and cost in mind.
  • Coordinates the specific design and/or modification of specialty tooling, fixtures, and machines working directly with the stakeholders of the project.
  • Work with the team to meet the service needs/requirements for each project

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field; and a minimum of three years' related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience totaling 5 years.

SKILL and KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong project management skills
  • Mechanical Aptitude: tooling and manufacturing equipment
  • Team leadership skills
  • Experience with problem-solving methodologies (DMAIC, 8D etc.)
  • Interpret mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic schematics
  • Experience with industrial automation preferred
  • Light ad hoc travel

Computer Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • AutoCAD
  • Understand MRP/ERP systems

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no supervisory responsibility.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Mostly an office environment with regular visits to the manufacturing floor. The noise levels in the work environment are usually moderate.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Regularly required to sit or stand, reach, bend and move about the facility. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
