Job Flexibility
• Onsite: This position requires an employee to be on-site on a full-time basis.
The Materials Planner will provide support to production by developing supplier relationships that ensure the delivery of parts and work continuously to develop ways to improve this method.
Job Responsibilities:
- Purchase and expedite rough materials and completed parts to support production.
- Release orders to the supply base using MRP reports.
- Communicate and assess daily issues, including engineering changes, specification changes, deviations, etc., to ensure no shortages to production needs.
- Control inventory through use of JDE MRP to achieve accurate quantities in a timely manner.
- Develop and maintain supplier relationships, through timely communication, to ensure delivery performance and timely resolution of quality issues.
- Monitor supplier delivery performance.
- Maintain relationship and support purchasing activities, including supplier resourcing, supply issues, Engineering Change Requests, Defective Material Notices, etc.
- Implement material performance programs to improve quality, lead-time, and reduce costs.
- Recommend information systems improvements through conclusive follow through of any JDE MRP as they arise.
- Support the maintenance of ISO/QS-9000 certification as documented by the Quality Management System.
- Recognize dependence on assistance of fellow team members. Take on the ownership and accountability of our team's mission, objectives and action plans.
- Ensure compliance to the Standards of Business conduct through familiarity with Corporate policies and procedures and a commitment of the Plant Vision.
- Support and adhere to all EHS policies and procedures.
Job Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in business or operational management or equivalent experience required
- Minimum of 2 to 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment using MRP or a Materials system required
- Excellent communication skills are a plus
- Microsoft Excel experience required
- Purchasing experience helpful
- APICS, NAPM or CPIM certification helpful
This position is eligible for Cummins-Meritor’s Incentive Compensation Plan, which offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
