Position Summary:
AJR Trucking is looking for a dedicated Mechanic Apprentice with trucking experience to join our team. The responsibilities of the mechanic apprentice include inspecting vehicles, performing basic repairs, ordering parts, and taking inventory. As the mechanic apprentice, you will be working with our experienced Mechanics.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Following company-created checklists to inspect and test vehicles.
  • Testing vehicles both before commencing repair and after reparations procedures.
  • Performing standard mechanical repairs, such as changing brake pads.
  • Replacing heavy equipment batteries
  • Performed 90-day Bit Inspections and Federal Annual Inspections
  • Conducting roadworthiness inspections of vehicles.
  • Replacing heavy equipment tires
  • Replace S cams, and bushings, slack adjusters, and shims
  • Repair and replace tire and wheel assemblies
  • Perform nail hole repairs
  • Install E-Tracks on trailers.
  • Install new Roll Up Door
  • Replace Rear door panels as required
  • Replace door rollers and Hinges
  • Check and test lighting system
  • Check and adjust brakes as needed
  • Install scuff liner on trailers
  • Patch and/or replace tire
  • Enter all repairs in our TMS System
  • Learning repair techniques under the supervision of the mechanic.
  • Maintaining the workshop area clean and well-organized.
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • A completed certificate or diploma in auto mechanics may be advantageous.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be familiar with both manual and automatic transmission types.
  • Strong understanding of mechanics.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Good analytical skills.
  • Physical fitness and stamina to stoop, crawl, work laying down, and lift heavy machinery.
Pay:
  • The pay is competitive, depending on experience ($18.00-$25.00/hour) and will be discussed during an in-person interview.
