PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITY:
The primary purpose of this position is to work collaboratively as an active member of the interdisciplinary team to provide patient centered care across the continuum. In this role the goals include to provide an excellent patient experience, high quality outcomes, and improved productivity for the team. This position will work on assigned grant-funded projects. This position is PRN and has a job ending date of August 1, 2023.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participate in daily huddles with patient care team(s)
- Prepare patient charts for providers
- Review patient registries and identify preventative care due for patient
- Assist in preventive care outreach initiatives
- Obtain vitals
- Assist in obtaining medical records
- Perform screening procedures as indicated
- Prepare patients for exams and assist providers during exams
- Prepare sterile fields
- Prepare and administer medications and vaccines, including intramuscular and intradermal injections as directed by provider
- Serve as a preceptor for new staff
- Assist in administrative duties as needed, including handling calls
- Participates in process improvement of new and existing workflows
- Actively embraces and supports divisional and organizational initiatives

- Knowledge and experience documenting patient care in an electronic health record
- Phlebotomy experience for patients of all ages

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Certification as a Medical Assistant through AAMA, AMT, NHA, NCCT. NHA candidates must have completed a one (1) to two (2) year diploma or degree program or have two (2) years of prior clinical experience.
- One (1) to two (2) years of medical assisting experience in a primary care ambulatory setting preferred.
REQUIRED LICENSES:
- Medical Assistant Certification
- Current CPR certification
FOREIGN LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to speak Spanish strongly preferred.
SCHEDULE:
Regular attendance on-site at grant-funded project location in Wake County is an essential function of this position. Typical work hours may fall Thursday – Thursday, including weekends, 4:00 am – 10:00 am (or flexed to best meet the needs of the clients and/or the Division); no more than 24 hours per workweek; weekend or holiday coverage is occasionally required. Work hours will need to be flexible in order to respond to special work assignments, or evening activities, as requested by the team leader.
