Royal Ambulance Remote

The Medical Biller (Medicare - CAC Certified) is responsible for submitting ambulance claims to insurance contractors for timely adjudication utilizing a Computer-Aided Dispatch system(s). The Medical Biller will be responsible for billing out specialty trips, answering trip related questions, ensuring HIPAA compliance regarding patient demographics, identifying and completing necessary follow up with patients, and additional tasks as assigned. This position requires the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Attention to detail, excellent documentation skills, and accurate data entry are essential to the success of this position.

Work Environment - This role can be 100% remote; high-speed internet connection required for remote employees.

Responsibilities

  • Applying a comprehensive understanding of benefit exclusions/limitations to determine appropriate payor assignment(s) per account
  • Considering deductible and any other anticipated patient out of pocket expenses
  • Evaluating patient care report documentation for medical necessity of services to be invoiced
  • Validating presence and appropriateness of trip related signatures as required
  • Effectively coordinating with facility billing representatives as needed to properly apply inpatient billing requirements
  • Submitting requests for denial as appropriate to preserve patient appeal rights
  • Efficiently and accurately coding and billing trip related claims utilizing valid ICD10s and HCPCs
  • Maintaining minimum productivity requirements (clearing all clean claims per shift)
  • Demonstrating ability to complete tasks independently within guidelines set by department supervisors and managers
  • Effectively maintaining cache of unbilled accounts as assigned
  • Directing all potential claim delays or requests for additional information to the appropriate person/department
  • Following all quality requirements and direction of Supervisor and/or management
  • Accurately determining eligibility, coordination of benefits, and coverage
  • Maintaining patient and company confidentiality through proper and secure information sharing policies with strict adherence to HIPAA guidelines and company protocol

  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor at all times
  • Capability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Aptitude of versatility to bill proficiently in all necessary aspects
  • Demonstrate a consistent application of State and Federal insurance laws
  • Consistently review aging and make necessary changes for payment recovery
  • Provide support for generating insurance claim forms
  • Accurately report time management toward assigned goals at the close of each shift

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Experience with Medical Billing is required (2-5 years)
  • Candidates with previous ambulance billing/coding experience is highly desirable
  • Certified Ambulance Coder certification highly preferred having successfully completed NAAC’s CAC course
  • Candidates must be computer and technology savvy with the ability to type at least 60-75 wpm and navigate Google Suite/Microsoft Office and other department related software
  • Candidates must read, write, and speak fluent English.
