Who are we looking for?

The Medical Billing Generalist will provide exposure to many functions of the Revenue Cycle department and therefore brings opportunity for advancement. The ideal candidate should have a great attitude to create an excellent patient experience and comfortable handling high-volume inbound phone calls to address patient billing concerns.

Schedule: Monday-Thursday 8-5 pm, Half-days on Fridays! This position will be onsite at our HQ office.

What your day will look like

• Answer multi-line phones for the billing department ensuring all incoming lines are always covered.
• Demonstrate the ability to deal with patients regarding sensitive financial matters and capture unpaid balances including patient itemized receipt requests.
• Receive and resolve patient billing complaints and questions, initiate adjustments as necessary.
• Make appropriate financial arrangements for payment of patient accounts; Respond to correspondence or telephone calls from patients about accounts.
• Document calls with patients in practice management system.
• Utilize merchant processing vendor to process credit card or check payments & manage payment plans.
• Send receipts when requested by patient.
• Prepare write-off and refund requests with appropriate documentation and submit to Manager.
• Process collection agency accounts.
• Assist AR Specialist with insurance records requests.
• Sort daily mail, interoffice correspondence, and faxes.
• Cross-train in multiple Revenue Cycle departments to assist with coverage as needed.
• Other duties as assigned

• At least 1 year of healthcare-related experience

Knowledge & Skills Needed to be Successful

• Must be customer oriented and have the ability to adapt/respond to patient escalation issues
• Excellent writing and verbal communication skills
• Knowledge of commercial insurance plans and government programs
• Knowledge and understanding of the medical claims revenue cycle
• Strong attention to detail and goal-oriented
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple workflows and responsibilities
• Ability to work in a results-oriented and fast-paced environment, both individually and as part of a team
• Adapt well to changes in processes and procedures
