JOB SUMMARY
The Medical Equipment Delivery Technician dispenses medical/surgical supplies and patient care equipment with regular guidance. He/she will coordinate and perform the daily functions for supply and equipment distribution to a discharged patient. He/she will notify caregivers and patients of their order status and advises them of problems and delays on their orders as needed. The Medical Equipment Delivery Technician will ensure that appropriate supplies are ordered, received, and inventory levels are maintained.
THIS POSITION IS LOCATED AT THE VANDERBILT CLINIC ON THE MAIN CAMPUS OF VANDERBILT UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER. THIS IS A SECOND SHIFT POSITION. YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO WORK ROTATING WEEKENDS IN THIS POSITION.
YOU MUST HAVE A TENNESSEE DRIVER'S LICENSE WITH A CLASS F ENDORSEMENT TO MEET THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION.
ABOUT YOUR DEPARTMENT
You will be working for Carefluent Connect, a wholly owned, for-profit, subsidiary of Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Our vision is to support health and care by offering a coordinated, efficient and effective approach to the provision of services; personalized to meet the needs of the patient. Our primary service line is supporting the DME needs of our patients as they transition from VUMC care into the home. The vision of Carefluent Connect is to try to fill gaps in serving the needs of patients. When a clinician deems that home equipment or supplies are required, and a patient chooses us to provide the service, we’ll ensure continuity of care no matter where the patient is.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Delivers medical equipment and supplies, educates the patient and/or caregiver on use, maintenance and benefits, completes all required paperwork.
- Maintains compliance logs and applicable records and receipts per policy and procedure.
- Understands and complies with all applicable laws, rules and regulations including, but not limited to HIPAA, ACHC, FDA, OSHA, ORCB, state Pharmacy Boards, state Respiratory Boards, state Departments of Transportation, all infection control guidelines and all laws pertaining to oxygen transfilling. The Delivery Technician is expected to report any and all compliance or safety issues to the manager.
- Performs daily vehicle inspections, maintains cleanliness of vehicle, fuels trucks, and logs trip counts.
- Ensures all maintenance and repairs are scheduled and performed for vehicles.
- Provides safe transport of equipment and supplies. Drives safely and defensively, obeying all traffic laws.
- Reports any accidents, violations of policy, safety hazards, or unusual occurrences.
- Loads and unloads transported cargo. Segregates clean and dirty cargo in accordance with infection control requirements and procedures.
- Responsible for delivery and set up of product in accordance with arranged schedule to the customer/patient in a timely and professional manner.
- Instructs and demonstrates patient/care giver/nurse on proper and safe use of product.
- Provides safe environment for the patient at all time.
- Checks electrical outlets for power and proper ground when delivering electrically powered home medical equipment, in addition to observing entire environment/surroundings for any concerns in accordance with patient home safety assessments.
- Completes required paperwork upon delivery, pick up, or service of product and follows and adheres to HIPAA guidelines.
- Collects cash and credit card payments from patients and/or caregivers. Maintains accountability for collected payments during delivery routes.

TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES:
SAFETY (INTERMEDIATE):- The knowledge of and attentiveness to safety as well as compliance with the rules regarding safety.
DRIVING PRACTICES (INTERMEDIATE):- Knowledge and use of safe and compliant driving procedures.
EQUIPMENT INSPECTIONS (INTERMEDIATE):- Reviews and Inspections is a systematic process of checking to see whether a piece of equipment is meeting specified requirements.
LOCAL AREA AWARENESS (INTERMEDIATE):- Working knowledge of roads, buildings, and places in the local area.
PATIENT EDUCATION (NOVICE):- Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency in providing patient education in practical applications of moderate difficulty.
QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent experience) and less than 1 year relevant experience required
Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration (LCR):
- Tennessee Drivers License - F Endorsement Required
Additional Qualification Information:
- Customer engagement or retail sales experience in a medical, insurance, or healthcare setting preferred.
