Trinity Health Of New England is looking for an experienced Medical Lab Technician, to join our team of mission-driven healthcare innovators located at Mercy Medical Center, Life Labs, in Springfield, MA. Our vision is to provide state-of-the-art healthcare to those within our local communities, creating a positive impact for each individual that walks through our doors. This person is responsible for providing highly skilled, wide range of routine and complex analyses in all sections of the clinical laboratory in order to provide data which will assist the physician in diagnosis and treatment. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Associate’s Degree or at least 60 semester hours of academic credit from a regionally accredited college / university and successful completion of a NAACLS accredited MLT program OR CLA certification and an Associate Degree or at least 60 semester hours from a regionally accredited college / university, including 6 semester hours of chemistry and 6 semester hours of biology OR an Associate Degree or at least 60 semester hours from a regionally accredited college / university including 6 semester hours of biology AND successful completion of a 50 week U.S. Military medical laboratory training course OR three years full time clinical experience in Blood Banking, Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Immunology and Clinical Microscopy. At least two years must be under the supervision of an appropriately certified medical scientist and a certified medical technologist.
- Has passed an MLT (ASCP) or CLT (NCA) level certification examination offered by one of the professional societies. Note for New Hire Non-Certified MLT: Must be eligible to sit for ASCP and / or NCA certification exam and must successfully pass within one year of hire.
- Work requires analytical ability to collect information from diverse sources, apply professional principles in performing various analyses and summarizing the information and data in order to interpret and report results.
- Must possess sufficient motor skills in order to perform delicate tasks such as calibration and maintenance of laboratory instruments, perform precise sample procedures, pipetting of samples and use of computer workstations.
- Must possess sufficient communication skills (direct telephone) to interact with patients and other members of the health care team. Possesses hearing acuity so as to be able to communicate with others, communicate using the telephone and be able to monitor the many sounds produced by clinical instrumentation.
- Possesses color vision.
