The Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) or Clinical Laboratory Specialist is a critical specialist responsible for the application, modification, adaptation, and extension of analytical methods and procedures in the performance of a variety of tests in the clinical laboratory. Work assignments encompassed include such specializations as chemistry, microbiology, hematology, immunology, urinalysis, blood banking and reference lab send out processing. This position will consider Medical Technicians (MT), as well. The location of the medical facility is in the beautiful Santa Fe, NM.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Highly proficient in phlebotomy and will perform such services in a hospital lab setting.
- Familiar with CMS and TJC regulations and ensures compliance.
- Performs a wide range of clinical laboratory tests and examinations per requests by medical staff for use in clinical diagnosis, patient screening, monitoring patient therapy and status and other authorized purposes.
- Performance of standardized laboratory procedures in accordance with established methodology manuals, technical references, and precedents of non-standardized procedures; involves the use of methods, techniques, instructions or other processes or actions, which are not fully covered in detail by instructions or in laboratory procedures manual; performance of tests/examination requires experienced judgment in determining the "best", (i.e. most accurate and reliable) way to perform procedures.
- Development of criteria for quality control checks; and devising and writing guides and instructions for local laboratory use.
- Withdraws blood by venipuncture and capillary puncture. Instructs patients and/or hospital personnel in the collection, preservation, and transport of specimens.
- Sets up, operates and/or utilizes appropriate equipment, instruments, container and other devices and material to perform qualitative and quantitative analysis of substances. Assures that such critical characteristics as temperature, humidity volume, etc., are observed. Prepares solutions, stains, reagents, and media required for the conduct of tests/examinations; completes labeling, cleaning, and sterilizing equipment, glassware, and instruments.
- Interprets and evaluates results of tests/examinations; recognize anticipated reactions and departures from the norm; exercises professional judgment and experience in determining the causes or possible significance of improper or imprecise outcomes and in repeating or altering procedures to correct abnormalities and deviations.
- Performs preventive maintenance, periodic inspection, and performance testing of equipment and instruments together with the maintenance of appropriate record keeping.
- Provides guidance and training to ancillary laboratory and other personnel when assigned to train in designated section or specializations.
- Maintains professional knowledge and proficiency in medical technology through continuing education, staff meetings, and participation in professionally oriented activities.
- Works on a regularly assigned, rotational or callback basis to provide continuity of laboratory services during evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends, seven days a week, 24 hours per day.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Required: Completion of an Associate's degree in related field from accredited program in the U.S.A.
- Required: Shall be ASCP eligible or certified medical technologist with at least three years of experience as a technologist. Other acceptable credentials are: AMT and HEW.
- Required: Resume and certifications must state sufficient experience and/or education to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.
- Required: Must have BLS and CPR certifications.
- Required: Provide three professional references.
- Required: Have and maintain valid driver’s license in any state of the U.S.A.
- Required: Be a U.S. citizen or otherwise meet other applicable requirements.
- Required: Successfully complete a federal background check.

Physical Requirements:
- May require long hours of sitting and performing computer work. However, work may demand frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, carrying of items such as records, supplies, and working with equipment.
- Able to lift at least 50 lbs., reach, pull, push, bend, stoop, and kneel.
- At the time of hire, must provide a fitness for duty certificate issued by a licensed physician to perform the proposed job without significant risk to personal health or the health and safety of others.
- At the time of hire, must provide documentation of evidence of immunizations as required by the facility's immunization policy.

Pre-employment Requirements:
This position may be contingent upon passing a security clearance, criminal background check (state and federal), drug screen, Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review, education verification, employment verification, and/or credit check after acceptance of an offer and prior to beginning work, due to the nature of the services Chloeta provides and the responsibilities of this position.
Drug and Alcohol Testing:
To enforce Chloeta’s Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy, an employee or candidate could be subject to undergoing a drug screen and/or alcohol testing at the beginning of employment, as well as after commencement of employment where there is reasonable suspicion of intoxication, or following an automobile or other accident, or as part of a company or facility-wide random drug screen process.
Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA):
Under the FCRA, Chloeta may request a credit check during the onboarding process. A written authorization form will be required before obtaining credit records.
Emergency Response:
Every Chloeta employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official Duty Station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official Position Description (PD). Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
