The Mergers & Acquisitions (M & A) Project Developer will play a central role in due diligence activities for M&A opportunities across established and emerging distributed solar and storage US markets. This individual will also provide early-stage development support for customer-sited ground-mount solar and/or battery storage projects.
This position can sit in Houston, TX or Chicago, IL. This position is open to a hybrid scheduled of both in-office and work-from-home days. This position will report to the Project Development Senior Advisor, Distributed Solar and Solar.
What you'll do:
- Conduct M&A opportunity due diligence, primarily of development-phase distributed solar portfolios, through review of development entitlements, such as permits, leases, and interconnection studies
- Manage due diligence activities of internal and external subject matter experts, including scoping, prioritization, and maintaining schedule
- Collaborate with commercial leads on M&A deal structuring and strategy
- Communicate key due diligence findings to teammates and summarize these findings in investment committee approval presentations and documents
- Understand various offtake structures, most importantly community solar and other programmatic offtake within established and emerging markets
- Direct and collaborate with co-development partners on activities such as land acquisition, PILOT negotiations, and permit applications
- Conduct post-closing handoffs of acquired projects to the project development and construction teams
- Support customer-sited ground-mount projects by performing desktop site suitability assessments, creating development budgets, and advising on development execution
What you’ll bring:
- A minimum of a four (4) year degree from an accredited college or university with a focus in Project Management, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or Energy Systems/Policy preferred
- A minimum of two (2) years of project development experience in solar (either distributed or utility-scale); battery energy storage experience a plus
- Direct experience with solar and/or battery storage project development, including real estate, zoning and environmental permitting, interconnection, and offtake
- Conscientious, detail oriented, and highly organized
- Values inclusivity and diversity within a tight-knit team dynamic
- Ability to review large amounts of information and communicate key takeaways
- Ability to manage a project team across multiple disciplines (e.g., engineers, attorneys, and environmental consultants)
- Willingness to challenge assumptions, receive and provide constructive criticism, and drive towards creative solutions
- Ability to work proactively beyond immediate next steps on a given task or project
- Results-oriented and motivated professional with the ability to work independently within a large matrixed organization while effectively interfacing with the various cross-functional employee groups
- Ability to thrive in quickly changing environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Superior verbal and written communication skills and high level of attention to detail with the ability to present to a wide range of audiences, including ENGIE leadership, third party developers, and potential customers
- Proficiency in MS Office and Google Earth Pro; Salesforce/CRM tools a plus

- Salary Range: $69,275-176,670 USD annually
- Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors
- In addition to salary, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan
