Innophos is seeking a highly motivated Microbiologist to work very closely with the R&D team and manufacturing facilities to develop and conduct microbiological testing. The role is based in our Cranbury, NJ location. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise in the microbiological field and be a key contributor driving initiatives to develop and launch new products/solutions for our customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Apply aseptic techniques and follow standard operating procedures daily
• Prepare and maintain media and reagents needed for testing
• Perform microbiological testing using appropriate techniques including:
  • Quantitative and Qualitative analysis of samples
  • Isolation and identification of isolates
  • Challenge and Shelf-life studies
• Conduct microbial plant audits
• Develop and implement new methods as necessary
• Collect, analyze, and communicate results through reports and technical presentations
• Organize the lab including supply inventory, calibrations, cleaning, and maintenance of the lab equipment
• Establish, review, and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure that the equipment is properly cleaned, calibrated, standardized and adequate for testing
• Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures
• Proactively attempts to prevent all accidents and eliminate all unsafe conditions
• Demonstrate management s commitment to safety

Required Education and Experience

• B.S. with advanced degree (M.S. or PhD) preferred with microbiology as a required field of study
• 8 or more years of experience in a professional lab and/or field experience

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Microbiology subject matter expert
• Ability to plan and execute experimental protocols
• Working knowledge of BAM, AOAC, USP etc.
• Experience with Method Validation and related documentation
• Ability to travel 5% of the time for customers as needed
