Mold Designer Job at AMT Products
Senior Mold Maker/Senior Designer will work with both engineering and the toolroom to ensure adequate mold construction, repairs, and general work is being maintained. This position will interact with production, and engineering to ensure molds are repaired, accurate, adequate and in time for production activities.
Job duties
- Position requires the ability to work with little or no direct supervision and to respond to requests for assistance from internal customers.
- Initiates purchase order for parts and machines.
- Build fixture or make mold components from blueprints.
- Will determine tool specifications, costs, materials and dimensions
- Will utilize Solidworks to draft and revise new and current drawings for molds or other tools
- Manages all tooling/engineering activities in the design and construction of new tools and modifying existing tools. Works closely with the Manager – Molding, on project plans.
- Assist in troubleshooting injection molding problems.
- Manage library of tool drawings.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5+ years of plastics engineering experience. Strong knowledge of plastic materials, characteristics, and properties.
- Proven knowledge of injection mold design and molding process.
- Degree or proven experience will be required.
- Machine hands-on is a plus.
- In-depth knowledge of injection molding principles and tooling debugging skills.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, including customer and supplier interface.
- Ability to technically negotiate and understand the financials involved in each project.
- Knowledge of either Solidworks, Auto Cad, IGES, and step file format. Must be proficient in MS Office.
Experience
- 5 - 10 years: Experience in plastics engineering
- 5 - 10 years: Must be proficient in a Engineering Software
- 5 - 10 years: Knowledge of Injection molded tooling
- 5 + years mold making and repair
Education
Required
- Bachelors or better

- Proficient in SolidWorks
- Excel Proficiency

Pay: $65,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
