Moosilauke Ravine Lodge Assistant Manager Job at Dartmouth College
Position Purpose
The
Moosilauke Ravine Lodge Assistant Manager assists the manager in leading the operations of the Lodge and crew. The Assistant Manager rotates through all roles, and shares the responsibilities of the crew in all areas of work, including menu planning, cooking, taking reservations, handling payment, helping with event planning, setting up the dining room, cleaning, gardening, splitting wood, and other projects. All crew members will be trained in these roles!

Required Qualifications
- High School and some college or equivalent.
- Must be able to obtain certification or the equivalent: Wilderness First Aid, CPR/AED, and ServSafe Manager (we can help you schedule and pay for these trainings).
- Must be able to withstand long days of work. Some days may involve upwards of 12 hours of work – much of which requires standing.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to work within a team environment.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to plan and manage programs and projects
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to become and maintain approved-driver status under the Dartmouth College Driver Safety and Motor Vehicle Policy.

Preferred Qualifications
- Live at the Lodge during scheduled work week. Crew members are housed together in a single dorm-style bunkhouse with shared full bathroom, facilities (electricity + heat).
- Previous experience working at the Lodge is not required but is strongly preferred. Other food service or hospitality experience is also desirable.
- Some maintenance or repair experience.

Staff Management - Facilitates on-boarding and training processes for the staff; sets weekly and daily work schedule; supervises and provides support and instruction to crew members; convenes weekly staff meetings; provides performance feedback; assists and delegate to crew various indoor and outdoor projects to maintain the buildings and grounds. 25%
Guest Services – Represent Dartmouth College, the Outdoor Programs Office, and the Lodge in all interactions with people who come through the Lodge and serves as primary point of contact for guest concerns ; coordinates reservations and assist guests consistent with OPO priorities.

General Management – Ensure that Lodge complies with OPO, College, local, state and other regulations concerning employment, food safety, etc.; Cooperate with NH Fish and Game to facilitate search and rescue missions for lost or missing hikers on Mt. Moosilauke and in the immediate area; Be a good fiscal steward of MRL funds; Work independently and with contractors to steward campus grounds and facilities; completes periodical safety checks and tests on various systems including propane, fire alarms, cleaning solutions, and more; tracks supply inventory and coordinate resupply processes; drives College vans with student guests to and from campus. 50%
