What will you be doing in this role:
The Senior Network Security Engineer performs a broad variety of technical engineering support, design, architecture for monitoring and managing the Health Systems data infrastructure and systems. Recommends and implements standards, policies/procedures, and works as a liaison with contractors and vendors to ensure the integrity and security of the network and infrastructure. Serves as a mentor for Network/Systems Engineers and works independently to come up with network designs and assemble and guide implementation teams. Performs maintenance, and upgrades of networks, including servers, routers, switches, firewalls, remote access systems, and network management systems. Monitors network connectivity and ensures high quality data transmission. Provides technical support to various departments and users with regards to LAN/MAN/WAN/Security/Wireless and cloud-based networks.
- Build blueprints, models, and strategies to strengthen the security of networks.
- Architect, test, implement and monitor macro and micro-segmentation solutions.
- Manage information and data access.
- Maintain, update, and test our organization's security perimeter environment. Develop and maintain a deep understanding of our security products and how they work together.
- Making sure IT infrastructure is securely backup and able to restore, in case of outage/unavailability.
- Participates in the evaluation of new applications for the Health System, determines their effect on the existing network and systems infrastructure and perimeter; recommends and may lead all aspects of any vital operational or security improvements.
- Develop and modify technology networks, addressing functional, performance, security, quality, operations, and monitoring needs in an efficient and productive manner.
- Participates or collaborates in policy creation, performing periodic security reviews of existing information systems, and assisting in the requirements and solution definition process for new CSHS information systems.
- Assists in the identification and resolution of network related hardware and software technical problems and malfunctions.
- Promotes governance and compliance with security standards, policies and procedures as well as maintain the Health Systems network security infrastructure with respects to functionality, performance, scalability, process, and reliability.
Experience Requirements:
Five (5)+ years of experience supporting LAN/WAN networks in large enterprise environments. (7+ years supporting 10k+ user and Healthcare environment preferred)
Planning, designing, and documenting Cisco equipped networks with 15,000 plus nodes with large domains and deployments.
Solid grasp of network and security topologies and protocols.
Cisco IOS/Nexus OS/ Cisco FTD/Cisco ASA.
Solid grasp of technologies related to MPLS, QoS, BGP, OSPF, VRF's, and Traffic Engineering.
Experience with Network Access Control and other perimeter security technologies.
Knowledge of Security products and technologies: IPS, Malware, Hardware, Site to Site VPN, NAT/PAT, ISE, DNA, SDA.
Understanding of F5/NetScaler load balancing products.
Knowledge of wireless technologies 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax.
Ability to read packet traces to identify source of problems.
Experience with selection and strategic direction of network, security and wi-fi technologies.
Educational/Certification Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related engineering field. (preferred)
CCNA required. (CCNP and/or CCIE, CCDP, CCSP, CISSP preferred)
