JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE: Maintain all network operations in coordination with the Network Manager. Assist with administration of appliances and servers, contribute to data and systems management. Oversee cellular phones.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education – Associate’s degree or technical degree in technology and/or networking certifications and experience in maintenance of an enterprise network.


KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:


  • Working knowledge of Cisco and Fortinet networking hardware and security appliances. Current District equipment: Switches – Cisco Catalyst and Nexus , Firewall – Fortinet Fortigate, Wireless LAN Controller – Cisco NAC
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server 2012 through current and services (i.e. Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, IIS, RADIUS)
  • Knowledge of server virtualization (VMWare, HCI)
  • Working knowledge of client/server architecture including Microsoft SQL server 2012 through current
  • Working knowledge of client operating system (currently Windows 10, ChromeOS, Linux, Android)
  • Capable of understanding algorithms for bandwidth shaping and network optimization
  • Experience maintaining backup and disaster recovery systems helpful
  • Ability to contribute to multiple projects, manage work activities, meet deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal/communication skills are required
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multitasking environment
    DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Maintain all network operations. Maintain administration appliances and servers, contribute to data and systems management. Oversee cellular phones.

Examples of Work Performed:

  • Assist with the design, configuration, and maintenance of District network including hardware and algorithms
  • Provide network security and Internet content filtering
  • Maintain current backups for all network and central data systems
  • Maintain disaster recovery plans
  • Manage cellular phones
  • Support district legacy systems
  • Provide problem determination assistance to District staff involved in technology usage
  • Research existing and emerging technology for District network application
  • Contribute to multiple projects using excellent communication skills in an education-centered environment
  • Attend events involving network technology as directed
  • Provide support for network emergencies

  • Other duties as assigned

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch and lift up to 50 pounds. The ability to drive a personal vehicle as a means of transportation. Specific vision abilities require close vision, distance vision, the ability to adjust and focus and depth perception. Specific auditory abilities required include normal conversation, phone conversation and ability to isolate voices in multiple conversations.


WORK ENVIRONMENT / CONDITIONS:

The work setting involves performance in a school or administration environment with various levels of staff and students. The accomplishment of tasks is often interrupted by persons with special and/or immediate needs. Work conditions feature frequent demands to address technology conditions, problems and conflicts that involve students and staff with diverse backgrounds and needs.
