The function of the Nurse Practitioner (NP) is to assist the Medical Director provide substance abuse services. The Nurse Practitioner goal is to assist in ensuring all clinical programs are safe and appropriate to the clients specific issues, drug of choice, and medical history. The Nurse Practitioner will direct and coordinate medical services and care in coordination with the Medical Director with other areas of the organization while making reasonable accommodations to ensure clients are safe and comfortable as possible during their stay.

Nurse Practitioner Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in Nursing
- A minimum of 1 year in the related field
- Valid Nurse Practitioner License in the State of New York, CPR Certified
Nurse Practitioner Responsibilities
- Demonstrates proficiency in administering the fundamentals of the nursing processes
- Obtains history and effectively assesses the patients physical, psychosocial, environmental, and self-care abilities. Records vital signs, note changes and pursues more specific investigations as needed
- Demonstrates clinical understanding of both drug and alcohol toxicity by correctly identifying patients in a state of detoxification and identifying withdrawal signs correctly and consistently
- Uses care plan as basis for providing safe and therapeutic care to patients
- Consistently follows established standards, policies and procedures in providing nursing care
- Review of patient records indicates that an emotional/behavioral evaluation is conducted on each patient. Evidence of on-going reassessments is consistently reflected in patients treatment plan and progress notes
- Writes admission order, submit medication order and develop medically managed detoxification protocol for each client within appropriate time frame
- Conducts medication management for clients throughout their stabilization/treatment period by prescribing medications as necessary
- Be available and responsive during emergency situations as deemed necessary
- Consistently respects the confidential nature of patient and facility information by following all release of information policies and procedures and by refraining from improperly divulging information
- Demonstrates adaptability and flexibility to changes in the work environment
- Acquire and maintain all CEU, CPR, trainings, etc. as required by JCAHO
- Ordering diagnostic tests and operating some kinds of equipment in the medical environment
- Evaluating test results to determine underlying physiological reasons for patient symptoms
- Diagnosing medical conditions and devising treatment plans designed to alleviate pain and to stop the progress of diseases and conditions
- Supervising the activities of nurses and other staff in clinics and hospitals to ensure tasks are completed promptly and patients receive the best care possible
- Educating patients and families about medical conditions and treatment plans
- Collaborating with others in the health care field to share knowledge, create treatment regimens and diagnose patients with unusual or difficult sets of symptoms
- Any other duties as instructed by management

Pay: $100,000 - $120,000 per year
