Position Description:
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) works as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team who will contribute to excellence in program administration, patient care, patient safety, research, quality improvement, and teaching.
The Department of Medicine – Division of Hematology and Oncology is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to support the outpatient cancer services focusing on GU Oncology located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin at Froedtert Hospital, Cancer Center and other outpatient cancer clinics.
Our cancer physicians are among the most highly regarded in the field of oncology today, and many of them devote their entire practice to a particular type of cancer. Using their combined knowledge and expertise, they form personalized treatment plans that result in the best possible outcome for each patient.
The MCW Cancer Center (MCWCC) is the only academic cancer research center in our area - a distinct region that includes large, underserved populations, patients who experience significant disparities in cancer incidence and outcomes and unique cancer problems

Primary Function/Responsibility
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary health care teams in diagnosis and treatment of conditions requiring Hematology/Oncology intervention in outpatient environment as a member of the HemOnc outpatient service.
- Participates in ongoing clinical research projects related to the field of hematology/oncology.
- See patients independently to provide consistent and timely patient care
- Order, perform, and interpret screening and diagnostic procedures and tests, and appropriately communicates and documents information.
- Evaluates quality outcomes for the patients receiving care of this team through participation in the development of quality indicators and outcomes dashboard.
- Facilitates and communicates with patient, family and staff to promote continuity of care across the continuum of care.
Core Responsibilities
- Performs comprehensive histories and physical exams, identifies normal and abnormal findings, including physical, cognitive and psychosocial status.
- Order, perform, and interpret screening and diagnostic procedures and tests, and appropriately communicates and documents information
- Develops pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical treatment plans.
- Monitors effectiveness of plan of care.
- Educates patients on disease and treatment plans.
- Performs procedures as trained and appropriately credentialed.
- Documents within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and completes other necessary documents.
- Collaborates and/or consults with physicians and other health care providers as appropriate.
- Educates, counsels, and assists patients and families regarding current health problems, health maintenance activities and preventive behaviors.
Preferred Schedule: Full Time; Monday- Friday, 8:00-5:00; Weekend rotations may be required

Physician Assistant: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Physician Assistant Studies

Preferred Experience:
- Experience as a Physician Assistant/ Nurse Practitioner with at least 1-2 years in a clinic or hospital environment working with oncology patients.
