Job Description
GENERAL SUMMARY
Under guidance and direction from the Safety Manager, the Occupational Health Nurse will provide comprehensive health, wellness and safety services to the employee population in accordance with all applicable company policies, government regulations, nurse practice standards and best practice guidelines in a manufacturing environment. In all areas of practice, the person in this position will act as a resource and an advocate for both employee and Company to encourage the attainment of optimal health and well-being within the corporation.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Conducting assessment, treatment, referral and recording of occupational and emergent Non-occupational injuries/illnesses.
Overseeing medical surveillance and licensing exams, such as pre-employment, fitness for duty, powered industrial equipment, DOT physicals and OSHA required exams.

COMPLEXITY AND SCOPE:
Organizing, administering and maintaining the policies of the occupational medical program consistent with the company's general policies concerning health services.
Planning, developing and utilizing the necessary equipment, supplies and outside Vendors and/or resources necessary to achieve the objectives of the Medical Department and operate within budget guidelines.
Administering the plant's Drug and Alcohol Testing Program.
Partnering with professional health resources and department supervision to develop and place injured workers into modified/light duty assignments which meet their physical capabilities and promote rehabilitation. • Coordinating medical treatment for Workers' Compensation cases in conjunction with Risk Management and Insurer.
Acting as liaison between employee and insurer for Disability case management. • Interacting with on-site and community physicians, nurses and physical therapists to promote employee health and wellness in the case management process.
Collect and analyzes health and utilization data. Prepares and delivers written and oral presentations/reports to management/user groups regarding occupational health clinic utilization and wellness programs.
Update knowledge of federal, state and local laws/regulations and other best practices applicable to occupational health. Maintains all required professional licensure and certifications.
Collaborate with Safety Team and Risk Management by participating in Global Safety & Health Audit process, instructing employees in ergonomic and safety education, and participating on Safety and Workers' Compensation Committees.
Implement Company provided wellness programs and, additionally, employee health and wellness programs addressing the unique health risks and demographics of the site. Engages, evaluates and directs users to appropriate CSC resources, such as the Employee Assistance Program, Medical Decision Support and Healthworks Program through company promotions, group education, individual consultations and/or referrals.
Demonstrate the ability to set priorities and multitask while performing the duties of the Medical Department, including patient care provision, regulatory oversight and policy development.
Use knowledge of Workers' Compensation regulations, case management skills and the PIM process to ensure patient understanding and compliance, reduce recovery time, and improve the employee's recovery and return to work outcome.
Show the ability to successfully build and maintain productive relationships with Third Party providers through open communication and professional discourse.
Draw upon regulatory knowledge to ensure program compliance with all OSHA and safety standards through effective training, administration, recordkeeping and utilization of resources.
Utilize medical skills to manage stressful situations through effective communication, accurate assessment, and the provision/recommendation of appropriate care.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Bachelors' degree in nursing or related field preferred.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Minimum of three to five years related experience, such as the practice of nursing within an occupational health (or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience).
CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
LPN LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED: LPN (or RN)
AHA or Red Cross CPR/AED
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS Strong preferred
Strong written and oral communication skills
Sound judgment and ability to manage crisis situations
Knowledge of state Worker's Compensation law, OSHA requirements and other occupational health regulations
American Board of Occupational Health Nurses certification (COHN or COHN-S)
Additional certification in areas such as spirometry, audiometry and drug test collection (Preferred, but can obtain after hire)

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment is clean and neat. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. However, there may be times when the employee needs to go into the plant, where the noise level may be loud.
- primarily 1st shift, but must be flexible to come in early some days and stay late others to catch employees on off shifts.
Compensation and Benefits:
The base salary range for this full-time, salaried position is between
$77,800.00 - $117,000.00
An individual’s base pay depends on a number of factors, such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation, such as a performance-based bonus and other short- and long-term incentives.
