We are looking for a sharp, highly analytical individual who is passionate about striking the right balance between customer demand and inventory levels. This role will work very closely with the sales and marketing teams to devise an accurate forecast. They will build out a demand plan that details ideal inventory levels, capacity, lead times and other necessary steps to meet demand. They will be directly responsible for maintaining SKU level demand plans for all business units with the active support of team members. The demand plan will be used as the main data set driving product purchases and inventory planning. Analysis, critical thinking, excellent communication and relationship management are key drivers to success in this role.

Job Description:

  • Develop effective forecast models based on industry trends and demand patterns
  • Propose and implement solutions to improve demand forecast accuracy
  • Work closely with Sales, Marketing, Operations and Finance leaders to meet customer demand and create profitability through increased forecast accuracy and optimization of inventory position
  • Develop sales forecasts through a compilation of demand streams including statistical modeling, market inputs, industry trends, macroeconomic signals, competitive threats, qualitative feedback through both Sales and Marketing
  • Develop a rolling 18-month demand plan by facilitating the process with production, logistics and supply planning teams
  • Act as the bridge between the company’s sales and operational verticals
  • Conduct monthly forecast maintenance
  • Consider the risks and opportunities against the plan
  • Lead monthly Demand Review to present forecast projections, explain inputs, and reconcile/align gaps between SKU forecast and sales estimates
  • Monitor and report important changes in sales forecasts, budgets, and business strategies
  • Support management with risk assessments and mitigation activities
  • Address demand-related issues in a timely and effective manner
  • Schedule regular forecast review meetings with management
  • Update forecasts for new products, seasonal products, retiring products
  • Effectively manage inventory levels to minimize 3PL expense and optimize cash
  • Maintain training materials for team members

Required Skills

  • Possess an aptitude for understanding the supply chain dynamics involved in forecasting, production, demand generation, inventory management and distribution
  • Experience with a formal Sales and Operations Planning process and demand planning/forecasting software
  • Possess strong analytical skills with extensive background in applying statistical models
  • Experience in creating forecasting and planning models
  • Demonstrate strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrate success in developing systems, processes, and procedures for forecast accuracy improvement, inventory optimization, and service level enhancement
  • Detail-oriented, with ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, deadline-driven team environment
  • Work with management, finance, supply chain and sales teams in creating and maintaining a cohesive sales and inventory plan
  • Passion to problem solve and take initiative to collaborate with others
  • Enjoy making and facilitating decisions and learning from the outcomes
  • Effectively balance risk and reward
  • Be a coach and mentor to a team and participate in organizational development

Additional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Supply Chain Management, Finance or other related field or equivalent
  • 6 - 8 years of experience in Demand Planning with exposure to Market Analysis, Manufacturing/Purchasing Planning or related field
  • Experience in SI&OP environment preferred
  • ERP Experience Level - Expert Level
  • Excel Experience Level – Expert Level
