Strong skills in mental health assessment, risk assessment and crisis intervention. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. An ability to work effectively in a team setting. A strong understanding of counseling and therapeutic intervention models, including evidence based practice models, theories and models of practice, including recovery based treatment approach. Knowledge and experience in working with the chronically mentally ill population. Strong interpersonal relationship building capacity. Must possess skills to interact with other providers in response to the development of the mental health assessment and treatment planning process. This interaction may also include crisis situations, i.e. hospital emergency departments and their staff, including physicians. Also must possess skills to interact with families and other consumer resources and supports. Work will also include interaction with community resources such as physicians, the legal system, schools, and other social service providers. Must be able to coordinate necessary client services to alleviate crises, facilitate referrals and transfers to appropriate service providers, and achieve treatment goals and expectation.
The Clinical Therapist position requires the incumbent to provide direct intervention and supportive services to mentally ill adults, children and their families. To provide mental health assessments, develop and update treatment plans, conduct individual group and family therapy, and crisis intervention services as needed. The successful candidate must be able to work independently and interdependently equally well. Also must be able to work under direct supervision of clinical supervisor/program director.
Perform outreach and follow-up with clients and other community support services. To maintain accurate, timely and comprehensive charting, reporting and billing systems. The incumbent shall also adhere to all Helen Wheeler Center Policies and Procedures.
Masters Degree in Social Work or Counseling. Clinical licensure preferred.
