Position: Paralegal
Location: Miami FL
Employment Type: Full-Time
Responsibilities/Duties.
- Performs complex legal research for the trial staff
- Assists in preparing draft legal documents, such as motions, briefs, memoranda of law, etc.
- Reviewing documents for relevance and privilege
- Assisting attorneys with all phases of litigation
- Expected to work independently on tasks without the need for continuous input from SEC staff.
Qualifications:
- Must have a law degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Required sound working knowledge of federal and state court system, legal research procedures, and legal research resources.
- Requisite legal research experience including with online factual research, such as background searched, social media searched, and website searches.
- Experience with securities and financial matters.
- Requires thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS/NEXIS, CLEAR, and Westlaw.
- Excellent writing skills for summaries of data
- Computer/tech literate.
The role also requires knowledge of e-discovery procedures and resources. Must be able to work effectively in an extremely pressured environment. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office 20l0 or newer programs. Must have hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, and imaging.
