Job Summary:

Employment with a private, local medical practice that contracts to the Gaston County Jail (Gastonia, NC) providing 24/7 inmate medical care. Dynamic team environment providing medical care to an average daily census of 600 inmates. Competitive salary and benefits package. Great learning opportunities. Facility is accredited by the National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC) and medical staff is escorted by correctional officer with all patient encounters.

Qualifications:

Paramedic

· Current CPR certification.

· Must be 21 years old and subject to a criminal background check for security clearance

· Professional attitude and ability to provide non-judgmental nursing care

· Competency in pharmacology and ability of follow prescribed protocols

Highlight of Responsibilities:

Responsible for assessing and triaging all newly arriving inmates coming into the facility. Also, assist RN with other tasks including emergencies, blood draws, withdrawal checks and history and physicals.

Recognize signs and symptoms, as well as display knowledge of action required in a potential emergency,

· Recognize signs and symptoms of mental illness, developmental delay, and chemical dependency.

· Accurately collects data pertinent to the health of inmates.

· Ability to prioritize and be flexible in dynamic clinical environment

·· Maintain security, recognize potential hoarding and trafficking behaviors in the correctional environment.

·· Collect information pertinent to screening exams, withdrawal checks and history and physicals.

· Accurately document in electronic medical record system and perform administrative duties to maintain record.

· Practice and comply with applicable NCCHC Accreditation Standards

Compensation:

$24.00-$26.00/h base rate

$2.50/h shift differential for weekends

$2.50/hr shift differential for evenings and night shift

$2.50/hr shift differential for Medpass shifts

· Holiday pay is base rate multiplied by 1.5

· Paid time off 7.5 hours per pay period (every 2 weeks) Full-time only
