The Office Services Assistant is based in our billing department and provides support for all of our departments. This position will work an average of two days a week from 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Receives and credits member payments through the mail, phone calls, counter, and drop box for Firelands Electric customer accounts.
  • Makes penalty and miscellaneous adjustments on member accounts.
  • Enters member account information, payments, and adjustments, etc into the computer.
  • Handles members’ inquiries regarding bills and usage.
  • Creates job orders.
  • Assists new customers in completing a new member application, setting up service, and answering other inquiries.
  • Acts as a back up to the consumer services representative in daily balancing of cash register and producing the daily cash sheet.
  • Acts as a back up to the consumer services representative for collections and disconnect procedures.
  • Scans and maintains members’ files.
  • Sends basic correspondence to members including budget, ACH, NSF, and unsigned check letters.
  • Assists Engineering, HR, Marketing, and Accounting in administrative and clerical tasks as assigned.
  • Assists other sections and departments by providing necessary information to meet the Cooperative’s objectives.
  • Completes all other duties as assigned to meet the section, department and Cooperative’s goals and objectives

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, this individual should have strong math skills, a basic understanding of billing, record keeping / filing procedures, and computer skills. Because the primary focus of this job is interaction with members, strong interpersonal skills are required.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

A high school diploma or equivalent is required, and two years of post secondary education preferably in accounting or business administration is preferred. Progressive experience in billing and/or accounting may be considered in lieu of or as an equivalent to a portion of the education requirement. Practical application of skills, for a minimum of one-year in a related organization, is desirable. Selection preference will be given to applicants with experience in utility operations. This position requires on-going special training to meet the section, department and Cooperative’s goals and objectives.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $19.00 - $20.00 per hour
