Responsibilities of the Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA):

Reports to: Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or Speech Language Pathologist (SLP)

Job Summary: The Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) will work under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide direct services to clients with communication and language delays, disorders, and disabilities. The SLPA will collaborate with the BCBA/SLP to develop and implement therapy plans, monitor progress, and collect data.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide direct therapy services to clients with communication and language delays, disorders, and disabilities as outlined in their Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or treatment plan
  • Assist with the development and implementation of therapy plans in collaboration with the BCBA/SLP
  • Collect and record data on client progress and communicate findings to the BCBA/SLP
  • Attend team meetings and collaborate with other therapists, caregivers, and educational professionals
  • Assist with the maintenance of therapy materials and equipment
  • Adhere to all ethical and professional standards set forth by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB)

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders or related field
  • Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) licensure or certification
  • Minimum of one year of experience working with individuals with communication and language delays, disorders, and disabilities
  • Knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles and techniques preferred
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other therapists, caregivers, and educational professionals
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must pass a background check

Physical Demands:

The SLPA will be required to work with clients in various settings, including in homes, schools, and clinical settings. The position may require extended periods of sitting or standing, as well as lifting or moving materials or equipment.
