General Summary
The Financial Services Representative will be the first point of contact for patient inquiries in the billing and collections process; will collect and process co-pay/deductibles on surgical services; and escalate complex inquiries, or inquiries from payors, to the appropriate Business Office Team Member.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must display a basic understanding of medical business office billing and collections practices.
- Must display an advanced understanding of multi-line telephone and scheduling systems.
- Must show the ability to have excellent interpersonal skills and communication to interact with all walks of life, internal and external to UCA, from all educational or cultural backgrounds.
- Must display advanced reasoning and problem-solving skills.
- Must show the ability to work independently and within a team in a fast-paced and stressful environment.
- Must show proficiency in use of a variety of office equipment including a PC, Windows, MSOffice, EMR system, copier, facsimile machine, etc.
- Must show the ability to maintain confidentiality, including strict adherence to HIPAA and UCA Guidelines.
- Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous customer service representative or similar experience preferred.
- Knowledge of Allscripts EMR and PM system.
Licensure, Certification, Registration Requirements
None.
Supervisory Requirements
This position will not supervise any other staff members.

Essential Functions
- Answer calls to UCAs Business Office timely and assist caller with billing information requests. Forwards complex inquiries to appropriate Business Office Team Member.
- Processes payment for collections of co-pay or deductible from patients.
- Post payment collected to the patient account.
- Document interaction with patient in the patient record.
- Provide support to the Insurance Follow Up Specialist as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
