As our Payment Services Specialist, you will be accountable for the effective servicing of members, and analyzing, processing and maintaining necessary files and records for ACH, savings, checking, Courtesy Pay, safe deposit boxes, certificates, payroll, IRA’s, and monthly transfers.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide superior service to members by servicing and cross offering all credit union products and services when appropriate, handling member issues and concerns in a timely manner, and assist with the effective and profitable functioning of the support services department in accordance with the policies and objectives of the credit union.
- Process and analyze daily checking transmissions.
- Run posting jobs on core system.
- Review all rejected items & create return file.
- Review stop payments and process as necessary.
- Process and transmit Check 21 file for teller transactions. Verify that items are transmitted to the Federal Reserve within the proper timeframe.
- Process Returned Deposit Items. Take appropriate action on return notifications. Chargeback original return deposit item to member account. Maintain records on return deposit items. Handle all phone calls related to return deposit items.
- Process and analyze payroll/ACH transmissions.
- Balance transactions to general ledger & assure that the necessary transactions are verified through OFAC.
- Run posting jobs on core system, review all rejected items & create return file.
- Maintain all records as they relate to ACH and payroll distributions & maintain an understanding of NACHA rules and Regulation E.
- Analyze process and verify ACH originations through all channels.
- Maintain member account records and effectively manage the Courtesy Pay function.
- Coordinate with credit union staff and members in the area of Death Claims, Writ of Executions, Domestic Relations and Levies received from the courts. Maintain the safe deposit box program to include inventory control, files and records, billing, and preparing monthly reports. Maintain certificate program. Serve as administrator of IRA program. Develop and implement procedural changes as necessary.
- Assist members with questions/inquiries regarding and e-Payer, review daily records. Maintain active and inactive records and files for support service processing.
- Prepare any necessary reports, studies or services required by management.
Requirements and Skills:
Knowledge of the fundamentals of banking, financial services delivery, certificates and IRAs individual retirement accounts, overdraft privilege processes and procedures, spreadsheet software, word processing, and web-based technology is preferred.
Above average oral and written communication skills along with the ability to follow oral and written instruction is required. Ideal candidates will possess above average telephone and problem-solving skills and demonstrate analytical skills with the ability to collect, analyze data.
High school diploma or the equivalent along with 3-5 years of financial institution experience and working knowledge of MS Office, Internet and Email are required.Post-secondary course work or professional development in banking, finance or related field with 5+ years’ experience in customer service in a financial institution is preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.91 - $29.87 per hour
