Pediatric/School-Based Speech & Language Pathologist Job at Young & Well
If you needed a sign to make a professional change in your life, here it is.
Young & Well is a pediatric therapy and psychology practice that sees kids in our outpatient clinic and everywhere they go: schools, nature, community. Our home base is in Rockville, MD but our therapists work in Montgomery County MD and DC.
We have a need for a school-based therapist currently in Washington, DC to work in charter schools part-time to full-time for the 2022 to 2023 school year and with optional summer work as preferred in our outdoor programs and clinic in Rockville, MD. This is a W2 position though our company has established relationships with DC Public Charter Schools.
This is a new position opening due to the growing need for services in schools, our clinic, and our outdoor programs.
With our creative compensation structure for bonuses, you decide your earning potential based on your caseload design. You are not expected to work excessive hours with high caseloads and not reap the benefit of your hard work, if you choose.
Leave that behind and join our team!
Our unique school-based contracting relationship is not one of a staffing company but we are integrated into the Charter Schools' Special Education programs and become part of their teams. In this unique school-based relationship they value our input, respect our expertise, and request our support across programs in a collaborative relationship that is focused on the progress of the students. We recognize and understand that overwhelmed therapists with extremely high caseloads are unable to provide the services they want to provide to their students and we are able to fulfill that through collaboration, teamwork, and caseload boundaries! You also have support from Young & Well leadership for advocacy and communication with your programs for the benefit of your students. We place a heavy emphasis on the trauma-informed therapeutic use of self in addition to connected and respectful relationships between our students and their support systems.
No more red tape. No more issues with supplies, getting your students' needs met. This is the most ideal school-based opportunity!
This position is:
1. Appropriate for an SLP with experience who has received feedback that they are a strong problem-solver, extremely organized, a contributor to their team, and efficient with school-based fieldwork/CF experience (for new graduates). Appropriate support and training is provided for strong new graduate candidates.
2. Is for a clinician that does not want to be micromanaged and is growth-oriented, valuing collaboration and learning amongst like-minded professional colleagues.
At least 3 references confirming experience and ability to work well independently with high regard will be required.
As a company, we value applying work-life balance to our practice in the way in which it works for each employee and believe we've got a great work experience designed for a meaningful life. Our goal is to co-create a work environment with our employees that allows them to love their workplace and meet their needs in a variety of holistic ways. We pay 100% of medical benefits at 25 hours per week. Our therapists have been with us for years!
What we need:

- A professional with diverse intervention strategies to fit the needs of their students and think outside of the box mentality in meeting the needs of students and their classrooms: our SLPs are super sensory-based and use co-regulation and connection in their sessions!
- This is a job for a person with positive energy, a passion for being an SLP (or the need to re-ignite the passion!) and their work so you can fit in with our team of equally-minded, hard-working, and positive providers and schools.
