NMCAL is actively seeking Certified Peer Support Specialists with a deep understanding of the peer support model, and a passion for providing empathetic support by phone and text to community members across New Mexico.

As a Peer Support Specialist you will engage with dynamic, diverse people seeking support with a variety of experiences. You will build empowering peer relationships with people in search of someone to listen, individuals who will grow through a connection with someone who has walked in their shoes. You will offer hope, as well as recovery and support services, from a position of lived experience to each person who reaches out to the Warmline. In support of this mission, you will complete call documentation, offer referrals to services and resources, and engage NMCAL counselors with people whose experiences are urgent/emergent.

Our Peer Support Specialists work closely with one another and the Warmline Supervisors in a unique, structured environment; taking part in ongoing meetings, trainings and team building activities. You will be given opportunities to share your knowledge and experience with a strong team of truly caring peers. Alongside these duties, you will handle confidential information professionally, with an understanding of the policies and procedures that guide ProtoCall Services. In order to serve the community at the highest level, a continued commitment to your own recovery is essential for this role. The Warmline is looking to fill the shift from 3:30pm to 11:30pm. We are open 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Full time available.

Who You Are

Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.

You must be a Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSW).

An individual who is in recovery for 2+ years and demonstrates an ability to support people who are in an emotional situation.

Familiarity with recovery principles with an openness and willingness to work from a position of lived experience.

Demonstrated experience in peer support, self-help, and/or experience working with individuals who have behavioral health concerns, preferred.

We’re seeking someone who has the ability to work independently and collaboratively, has computer experience and proficiency, demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, is dependable and able to manage time well. Successful applicants will be able to work evenings and weekends.

While working from home, to maintain HIPAA compliance and focus, it's necessary for our peers to have a private office space with a door, with internet speeds to be 10mb or higher, not susceptible to frequent outages. Because our systems run through the internet, it cannot be satellite or cellular hotspots. Static IP address is needed. This job is high-tech and involves multitasking.
