Job Summary

The University of Colorado Boulder Athletics department encourages applications for a Strength & Conditioning Fellow! This position will assist with the strength and conditioning of varsity student-athletes who train in the Dal Ward and CU Event Center weight rooms. Responsibilities include the development, implementation and management of strength and conditioning programs and weight room coverage. The Strength and Conditioning Intern will assist the Director of Olympic Strength and Conditioning and Associate Athletic Director of Health and Performance in maintaining the direction of the Athletic Department’s Strength and Conditioning Program.
This position is responsible for promoting the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics program. This shall include adhering to the principles of the Athletic Department’s Mission Statement, Diversity and Inclusion Mission Statement, Core Values, Policies and Procedures, as well as the rules and regulations of the University, the Pac 12 Conference and the NCAA.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Sport coverage:
  • Work in conjunction with strength and conditioning coaches in the development, management and implementation of strength and conditioning programs for Olympic sport teams.
  • Primary sport coverage is to assist and implement programs for the Spirit Squads (cheer/dance/chips/Ralphie handlers) with potential involvement with other Olympic sports based on experience.
  • Provide additional coaching and weight room coverage as needed in Dal Ward and CU Event Center Weight Rooms as allocated by full-time staff.
Student strength and conditioning program:
  • Assist in the supervision of strength and conditioning student intern program, which includes teaching and evaluation.
Administration:
  • Help with Kitman, PUSH, Polar and other data management and input as needed by the strength and conditioning staff.
  • Assist strength and conditioning staff in the development and implementation of internship program.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach or Director of Olympic Strength and Conditioning.

  • The position has extended hours to allow for variable practice schedules and weekend and holiday availability is needed for practice and competitions.

What We Can Offer

  • The salary for is $3,500 per month for 10 months or $35,000 in total.

What We Require

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • CSCS and/or SCCC certification by 8/1.
  • CPR/AED/First Aid Certification required prior to employment.

What You Will Need

  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Previous experience coaching large groups and in team settings.
  • Knowledge of various types of programming and evidence based training principles.
  • Experience with various performance technologies is a positive but not required.

What We Would Like You to Have

  • USAW Level 1 Weightlifting Certification.
  • 1+ years of collegiate strength and & conditioning coaching experience.
  • Prior Division I Experience.
