Phlebotomist - Full Time Job at PrimeCare Medical, Inc.
PrimeCare Medical, Inc. is looking for dedicated and hard-working Phlebotomist to work in the medical department at the Dauphin County Prison in Harrisburg, PA. In this role you will obtain blood specimens and collects non-blood specimens such as urine, sputum, and throat swabs for laboratory testing.
Job Responsibilities:
The Phlebotomist will primarily be responsible for obtaining blood specimens for clinical laboratory examination. In addition other responsibilities will include:
- Checks the test requisition or computer label to assure correctness and completeness prior to collecting samples.
- Follows all safety, infection control, and OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen guidelines.
- Brings discrepancies to the attention of manager for correction.
This position provides a 2 week orientation period where you will be training on-the-job and shadowing with the nursing staff.
Phlebotomist must be certified to practice Phlebotomy in the state in which the facility is located. Other requirements for the Phlebotomist include:
- Holds a current up to date certification to work as Phlebotomist
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to function under supervision
- Demonstrate clinical competency
- Experience in correctional health care delivery system, a plus
