Job Title: Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) to join our team in Ottumwa, IA. As a PTA, you will work under the supervision of licensed Physical Therapists (PTs) to help patients recover from injuries, illnesses, and surgeries. You will provide hands-on care to patients by helping them perform exercises, massage therapy, using equipment, and monitoring their progress.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist patients to perform therapeutic exercises
- Create home exercise programs for patients
- Help patients with stretching, heat/ice therapy, and massage
- Document patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary
- Assist with transfers and gait training
- Administer modalities such as ultrasound and electrical stimulation
- Communicate with PTs to ensure patients receive the best possible care
Qualifications and Skills:
- Completion of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program
- Current licensure as a PTA in Iowa
- CPR certification
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of anatomy and kinesiology
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Comfortable working with patients of all ages and physical abilities
