Assist pipe fitter to assemble and install piping for air, ammonia, gas, and water systems.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

1. Cut or drill holes in walls to permit passage of pipes using pneumatic and/or electric drills.

2. Select specified types and size of pipe. Mount pipe hangers and brackets on walls and ceiling to hole pipe.

3. Assist pipe fitter to install valves, coupling and other fittings.

4. May disassemble and remove damage or existing piping.

5. Load, transport, unload and furnish experienced craft worker with materials, tools, equipment and supplies.

6. Clean work area and restock supplies and materials as necessary.

7. May erect scaffolding. May assist in lifting, positioning and securing of materials and work pieces during installation.

8. May perform minor maintenance or cleaning activities of journeyman’s tools and equipment.

9. May assist in installation of high-pressure piping.

10. May assist in installation of gas burner to convert furnaces from wood, coal or oil.

11. Exercise behavior that insures personal safety and the safety of coworkers.

12. Perform other routine duties as directed by experienced craft person.

13. Assist other tradesmen employed by Bolton. Work may include but not limited to plumbing, HVAC, Electrical, Fire Sprinkler, General construction, Warehouse support, Building and Grounds maintenance, Cleanup and Clerical duties as required by supervisor.

KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

1. Must be able to use power and hand tools to perform all duties listed.

2. Maintain mental and physical attention necessary to operate company vehicles and equipment in a safe manner.

3. Must have basic knowledge of simple measuring devices, (tape measure, ruler, etc.).

4. Entry level knowledge of blue prints and specifications are helpful.

5. Must have high school diploma or GED.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to work easily and skillfully with hands; lift and carry objects weighing up to 150 pounds. See well (either naturally or with corrective lens). Climb and maintain balance on high ladders and scaffolds and stand, stoop, kneel or crouch.
