Job Summary:

Non-Registered Polysomnographic Technician performs comprehensive polysomnographic testing, analysis and intervention under supervision of a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist and/or the Medical Director or designee. Can provide supervision of a Polysomnographic trainee. Conducts polysomnographic procedures utilizing appropriate protocols outlined by national, state, AASM, Infection Control and department guidelines, policies and procedures. Adheres to Lourdes mission and values involving customer service. Provides services from 4 years of age to geriatrics.

Job Functions:

Gathers and integrates patient information in order to identify normal from abnormal to determine the final testing procedure in conjunction to the physician order.

Interacts positively with the patients, explaining procedures, to obtain the most interpretable test results and improve patient's compliance with the therapy.

Completes and verifies documentation and writes a detailed, accurate technical report to aid the physician in interpretation of test results.

Explains pre-testing, testing and post-testing procedures to the patient.

Conducts pre-testing preparation of equipment, calibrating equipment required for testing to determine proper function and makes appropriate adjustments.

Applies electrodes and sensors according to accepted published standards, performs appropriate physiologic calibrations to ensure proper signals are obtained.

Performs Polysomnography, CPAP titration, Parasomnia studies and oxygen titration

Documents routine observations including sleep stages and clinical events in order to felicitate scoring and interpretation.

Helps coordinate patient scheduling and performs routine office work and other medial tasks as required.

Education:

Trainee and/or CRTT recognized by the National Board of Respiratory Care

Licensure: Active license by the Kentucky Board of Respiratory Care where applicable

Certification:

Maintains CPR
