Job Title: Post Anesthesia Care Unit Nurse (PACU)
Job Summary:
As a Post Anesthesia Care Unit Nurse (PACU), you will be responsible for monitoring patients who have undergone anesthesia during and after surgical procedures. In this role, you will be working closely with the anesthesiologist and surgical team to ensure patients receive appropriate care while recovering from anesthesia. You will also be responsible for preparing patients for discharge and monitoring their overall recovery progress.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Monitor patients' vital signs, level of consciousness, and pain management.
- Administer medications as needed and monitor patient response.
- Provide emotional support and education to patients and families.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to develop and implement care plans for patients.
- Document patient care in electronic medical records.
- Prepare patients for discharge and ensure patients have a safe transition from the hospital to home.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Current RN license in the state of California.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a registered nurse, with at least 1 year in PACU or critical care.
- Current BLS and ACLS certification.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records.
