Position Details:
Position 1 Postdoctoral fellow to study the neural regulation of foot intake.
Funded position where you can employ a combination of techniques customized to your skills and training goals to uncover new details into the neural control of food intake and energy balance. The lab is housed in a beautiful state-of-the-art building specifically designed for neuroscience research and is equipped for studies using opto- and chemogenetics, electrophysiology, physiologic monitoring, molecular and behavioral approaches. The successful candidate will enjoy a casual, collaborative environment with extensive technical and career training opportunities. Previous trainees have had remarkable success in publishing, funding, and landing the jobs they desired be it in academia, science communication, industry or elsewhere.
Required Qualifications:
- The successful candidate will have earned a Ph.D. or equivalent in Neuroscience or a related field prior to starting and will have experience in the use of rodent models in neuroscience research.
- Applicants must be proficient in spoken and written English.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Skills include slice electrophysiology, studies of energy balance regulation, mouse husbandry and intracranial stereotaxic surgery in mice.

Position 2 Postdoctoral fellow to study opioid signalling and OUD
Funded position with customizable opportunities to study opioid signaling and opioid use disorder as desired to fit your skills and career goals. The lab has ongoing studies on endogenous opioid production and actions, opioid receptor desensitization, and approaches to interfere with opioid use disorder. The successful applicant will determine which questions and techniques interest them the most and will design a plan to gain the training they desire. The lab is housed in a beautiful state-of-the-art building specifically designed for neuroscience research and is equipped for studies using opto- and chemogenetics, electrophysiology, imaging, molecular and behavioral approaches. The successful candidate will enjoy a casual, collaborative environment with extensive technical and career training opportunities. Monthly Salary: $4,707-5,457 | In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. WSU offers a comprehensive benefits package which includes paid sick and vacation leave; paid holidays; medical, dental, life and disability insurance package for employees and dependents; retirement; deferred compensation and optional supplemental retirement accounts. Overtime Eligibility: Dependent upon salary.

Temporary Position End Date: This is a temporary position expected to end on December 31, 2024. Renewal is dependent on the need for extension and/or if additional funding is secured to extend employment.
